Behavioral assessments

Evidence based assessments are used. The process involves the use of  indirect information (e.g., rating scales, interviews, or a record review) and direct observation (e.g., actually observing what happens) to determine the function of a behavior. A behavior intervention plan will then be developed. Examples of these assessments are noted below.

Domain and skills assessments

Assessment (e.g., VB-MAPP, AFLS, ABLLS) are used to measure the learners  acquisition of knowledge and skill sets against expected developmental milestones. The results of these assessments are helpful to systematically develop a program to increase a person's knowledge and skills to improve their ability to access the world around them. Some examples of the areas these assessments can apply are noted below.

Parent training

Parent training is a component of implementing treatment programs. The purpose is to facilitate the exchange of instructional control from the BCBA or therapist as the primary implementers to the caregiver. Among the many benefits of this process, the immediate purpose is to foster program maintenance and generalization.
